hi sorry that this took me. FOREVER. i didn't have time to answer the ask at first then i did it halfway and didn't have time again and i promise you this ask has been hounding me (hah hah) since the day it appeared in my inbox but i never seemed to be able to make the time to reply to it asfjdfjfd anyway! here it is now :')

ok im basing the idea of hunting dog = jopson and mountain/working dog = little on their respective personalities, the way they seem to think and how they react to specific circumstances. and slightly on their physiques as presented in the series but that's of minor importance. ofc both of them are loyal and listen well to superiors - to one man in particular, which is fairly common among dog breeds as well (i.e. whoever trained them), so that's not necessarily distinctive, but it does ofc make them dog-coded in general. but there are many many ways in which to be dog-coded and they're very different abt it so!

why i think jopson is more hunting dog coded is bc he is extremely competent, but quietly so, not noticeable until it becomes necessary. he's very skilled at providing specific information about the crew and the general goings-on around terror to crozier, and he becomes more focused in highly tense situations - in fact these are moments where he specifically stands out for how well-suited he seems to the task. and he is not aggressive, but there is definitely a sharpness to him that he can and does direct to those who threaten him or crozier first and foremost.

and all that really does remind me of hunting dogs - a good hunting dog is extremely well-trained, knows exactly what he is supposed to do, listens to commands, and stays at his master's side. im thinking especially of pointing dogs, i.e. dogs that point a hunter in the direction of prey that they have sensed:

these are of course very precarious situations wherein a hunter relies on his dog to steer him, and if hunter or dog make a wrong sound or movement, they may alert prey to their presence. there's a a correspondence here between dogs trained for these moments of focus to jopson, who is crozier's silent aid but also excels in such tense situations, and who is decisive, swift and capable. and i think it's really funny that being 'birdy' is a wanted trait in these dog types, bc 'i've shot smaller hawks than you' the comparison literally writes itself. also, pointers/setters tend to be lean dogs, which i think coincides well with jopson's natural elegance and grace

edward on the other hand is supposed to be sturdy, good-natured and broadly dependable. he appears increasingly anxious in the series, but that is because he is shouldering a lot of responsibility throughout it all. he'll take the insults and he'll take the extra tasks and he'll do it with barely a complaint. in fact it makes me think of the fact that dogs treated badly can come to exhibit traits that are not desirable in the breed at all. imo edward in ep 1 displays what i would call the desirable traits of, say, the bernese mountain dog, but events and crozier change that very rapidly.

you can fuck up any dog if you treat it badly for long enough, and edward is an abused dog to me.

id also say that edward is generally amiable, though he will make a point when he feels it is absolutely necessary, and he does have an innate want to protect what or whom he finds important, though he is seldom if ever very aggressive about it. he has an intense feeling of responsibility for the crew and the expedition as a whole, set against his feelings of loyalty towards crozier, who he wants to please almost at any cost as well. and then of course he also has a large family.

'search and rescue work'. yeah. and then of course mountain dogs are generally of a sturdy build. obviously matthew mcnulty is no absolute unit but by god the series tried their hardest to make edward appear like a well-built countryside boy. and by god does he try to carry every burden ever on those shoulders, like a dog pulling a cart bc that's what it was trained to do and it was enjoyable once. and he seems practically immune to scurvy and fares well in the cold, which, again, very mountain dog of him.

additionally, newfoundlands (neptune!) aren't mountain dogs, but they're big, sturdy, excellent swimmers, and therefore often used for rescue, so that's also a breed i associate with ned.

I've been playing Hades 1 & 2 this month. I love it so far. I finished the main storyline of the first game, so I'm playing both at the same time now.

Second game seems much harder to me, my first clear took 20 tries in Hades 1, but 2 took me 21, and I barely did it. I thought I would be better at the game since I played the first one, but playstyle seems a lot different.

Yeah so in some places it says Melinoë is a "bringer of nightmares and madness" and you can't be cooler than that as a game protagonist. I really like the fact that she's the opposite of Zagreus. She seems more like me, and I don't see many characters I can play as myself that has a similar personality to me. I like this feeling :)

I did a little fanart, just experimenting with paper and pencils. I'm not entirely happy about it, but I don't care at this point no one will look at it that close.

Wanted to finally try some new games/ genres while im hiatus-ing. Started playing Pikmin 1 a few days ago. I've played the 4th demo, but as a gamecube kid, I thought starting with those would be more fun. And it has been fun! Slowly figuring things out… losing… so many pikmin… the horrors…

And then I wanted to try a visual novel/ dating sim. Found a cheap one on Switch, used gold points so I only had to pay like 60p (pennies) It uuuhhhh… yeah, yup. Very typical… anime… tropes… right off the bat. I don't know how to feel, but I've rolled my eyes a few times 😂

Okay i'm watching the gameplay reveal thing for dragon age and i'm going to bitch about it for a hot minute. Under a cut because i'm sure 99% of you don't need it on their dash.

But i finally figured out what irked me so bad with the previous trailer. Varrick's hair of all things. He was a ginger, tell me he dyed his hair or something because no way it is that dark on it's own now, especially when he starting to grey. He look like Thorin instead of Varrick....and i still can't get over the tonal shift... like.. where are we from the sacred ashes or the destiny trailers? or the fires above?

But this is besides the point. About the gameplay, live reaction bulletpoint style.

Can we like.. leave frostbite in the dust? Bioware please i'm begging. Besides that, the visuals are.. it's pretty. I kinda still feels kinda like a mobile game which i'm not a fan of. Too many soft edges for my visual tastes. for a second i thought it gives more third person immortals of aveum but even that had a much sharper feel to it.. no it is more the new art direction of world of warcraft. yeah, that. which i also don't like.

are.. we gonna be able to create a character on our own or is it going to be companion characters as origin characters only thing?

uuuhhhh the combat looks a bit weird to me but it's mostly just preference, probably other classes and higher levels are balancing it out

uhhh that mage falling off looked.. not great. but it is still an early build of the game so could be fixed. but it's still frostbite so probably not.

i'm not the fan of these spell/projectile path projections.. they somehow don't fit into the style of the game. they really take away from the visuals of the spells.

This really does not feel like a tonal continuation of inquisition at all, let alone origins and 2. I know it is just a short snippet but it definitely does not give me confidence so far. And it won't change much until autumn probably, unless they drive the devs half to death to rework half the game yet again.

Don't get me wrong, it very well may be a solid, good looking game, and i wish all the best for it but right now it sure does not look like a Dragon Age game.

I already answered this one for Call Me Icarus, so imma do Desecrate this time!!

The main conflict of Desecrate is two-fold: internally Kit has to confront the fact that he is rescuing a divine being, that he is rescuing his God, while externally he has to defy the Catholic Church in order to free the captive God.

🤒 - Is there whump in the wip? What kind?

oh ho ho this one is mighty fun for CMI.

Yes of course there is whump in CMI. Whump is like the cornerstone of Call Me Icarus, it is my bread and butter at this point honestly. The way I define whump is "taking a character and placing them in physically painful or psychologically-damaging situations" (because I know other people have diff definitions)

So, with that, basically all of CMI is whump. however, there are specific scenarios that I feel need mentioned:

The one and only sex scene between Icarus and Apollon where Icarus initiates the entire thing by legitimately shattering Apollon's mind and heart

The entire paranoia/anxiety hallucinations thing Icarus has going on (oh wait, i don't think i've talked about those yet...)

Achilles. just... Achilles. (i'm so sorry to anyone who's become attached to Patroclus)

Icarus deals with a lot of pain always. He's my literal punching bag and resident multi-year burn victim

🌑 - Is there reoccurring symbolism? Motifs?

oooooo there is recurring symbolism and motifs in both CMI and Desecrate, though they are more fleshed out in CMI.

First off, feathers. Feathers are a big thing in CMI (i should add more honestly...). There's also fire, that's a big reoccurring motif. uuuhhhh Icarus is autistic so I've written him to pick up on reoccurring symbolism but I can't really go too into depth on that yet because i haven't written it it's not going to start popping up until the end of the book

🕳 - What’s a plot hole you just can’t seem to fix?

i just.. cannot write a smooth progression from Icarus hating Apollon to Icarus loving Apollon again. It eludes me

Also, I've mentioned like multiple times that Icarus is the one who wants to tear down ATLAS but you know what the bitch never once mentions in story until it's forced upon him??? tearing down ATLAS. How did we go from Icarus just trying to cobble together a family to him being all "grrrr trauma burn them to the ground"??? I need to fix that and i just don't know how to yet

💡 - What inspired the wip? When/how did you first get the idea?

I also talked about this one for CMI already, so let's talk Desecrate!!

This idea is much more recent and was inspired by a class I took last semester (Ancient Christianities with Dr. Larson, if anyone remembers me complaining about that class lol)

Basically, towards the end of the semester we covered gnosticism and marcionism and how they were pretty immediately labeled heretical and buried and the only reason we really know that much about them is because of the Nag Hammadi.

So then my brain started creaking and turning and I thought: what if the Catholic Church was preceded by Marcionites instead of the proto-orthodox Christians?

Then, that snowballed into more (regrettably) predictable position of: What if the MC wanted to fuck God?

And thus Desecrate was born

What were your thoughts on Kira and Flay's sex scene?

Uuuhhhh Idk if I'm the right person to ask. I'm not really a huge fan of Gundam Seed to begin with. I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. I only made one post gushing about Lacus's character design, but that's about it. (I didn't mention about how I couldn't care less for her character)

So yeah, I didn't pay enough attention or bothered to look harder into it, so my memories of this show are really muddy. I've never been a fan of Flay to begin with (I'm not saying I didn't find her sympathetic, I just don't like her) I just remember feeling REALLY uncomfortable and icky during that scene, and I think I decided I didn't like her after that. That's about it, sorry if I couldn't give a more interesting answer.

Saturday I went to Music Bank Paris!

I got to see Mamamoo and Stray Kids and it was amazing!

Mamamoo did so well!! They really have a phenomenal stage presence and very clear live vocals.

They did 5 songs: Illella, Starry Night, Hip, Delcalcomanie and Um Oh Ah Yeh!

Which is a completely different set list than they did at KPop Flex in Frankfurt last year! (Hip being the only repetition, as they did Aya, Gogobebe, Hip and mumumuch then. I think they did Um Oh Ah Yeh on the 2nd day, but not on the 1st day that I saw them!)

Delcalcomanie was the performance that blew me away the most. That song really is so incredible live!!!

I was in love! But god I want to see full concert of them so bad!!! Like please please let their tour come to Europe! Pleeeeaaaaseeeee I’d make a deal with the devil! I’d sell like 5 years of my life for it!

And Stray Kids holy shit were also incredible!!

In the beginning they brought all groups to the stage to introduce them. I spotted Mamamoo quite easily, as they were the only 4 member girl group there. But I couldn’t spot SKZ. I was pretty far away, I didn’t know how they were dressed. There were quite a few boy groups with many members, but none of them looked to be SKZ,

Stray Kids were the last group introduced, and I could see in the screens them waving, but I still couldn’t spot them in the stage... Then I realised they were on the other stage sjdglkdfhgfs. So I thought “uuuhhhh they’re like the main event! The last group introduced and the only ones on a different stage!”

Most groups were doing 5 songs (some might have done 4 songs). But I thought “Stray Kids will be last! The closing act and main event, so they’ll for sure do 5 songs as well, maybe even SIX!!!”

They only did 4 songs 😭😭😭 And that is my only critique of the event!

They did Case 143, Maniac, God’s Menu and Miroh. I really wished they did Thunderous 😭 Why did so many groups get 5 songs, but not them?? So sad

But the ones they did were so fantastic! They opened with Case 143 which is super fun. Maniac holy shit I am such a sucker for Maniac. And nothing goes quite has hard as God’s Menu, that performance really burns up a stage. They closed with Miroh and it looked like they just turned the event into their own party! Miroh is so much fun and an amazing way to close a show!

But yeah, much like Mamamoo, now that show also left me thristy for a full concert of Stray Kids. Why won’t Maniac tour come to Europe???? that’s a crime!

Felix tried to say a long sentence in French, but forgot half of it poor thing. I felt bad for him, but it’s really hard to memorize long sentences in languages you don’t speak!

He later publish on instagram the sentence he was trying to say and that’s how I found out that Stray Kids will come to Paris again in July for a music festival. I wanna go bad! It’s not exactly their tour, but at least should be almost full concert! But just Paris again?? T_T

Anyway!! I had so much fun in Paris!! Loved seeing Mamamoo and Stray Kids and the other acts were also a lot of fun! Enhyphen maintains their spot as my 3rd favourite boy group!

ok so it’s my unfortunate belief that shirou largely ignores the existence of his bed, because he usually substitutes his office chair for it seeing as he will work himself away. he sleeps in a chair or simply not at all. now marie is…. she’s got the illusion of someone who values her health (i wont open this can of worms, but im saying that she doesn’t sleep anywhere like he would).

MOVING ASIDE FROM THAT.

i think they switch. they are. like that to me. because he’s you know, an extremely protecting person no matter the situation, i think after the phase of “…… this is my informant……” he takes it upon himself to play this role no matter the circumstance. and she thinks he’s on some bullshit for that, but she’s plenty fond of the attention, extremely. this doesn’t tie in with the “one nice thing would absolutely wreck her” idea at ALL. but yes she does think he’s on his “i don’t need the same things other’s do, it’s unnecessary compared to the role i play” crap so she switches with him. because she thinks he has the wrong priorities sometimes and likes to keep him surprised.

but mostly i think they just sit on the floor and sleep, pass out on the couch. they are not good at this and michiru thinks they’re both weird for it, before she flops onto the couch as well.

Something that bothers me a lot is that in their fervor to reject / put down sa.ns.an there are a lot of people who try and twist their entire relationship / dynamic in one that’s wholly negative, to depict Sandor as a predator or abuser or something when he’s just. Not. That’s just not the dynamic here at all.

I don’t wanna get to deeply into “ do i ship sa.ns.an / think sa.ns.an is good / etc etc ” I’ve varied on it over the years but generally my stance is that romance / love is an important element of Sansa’s arc / story as it’s part of the “ songs ” theme / narrative structure and so naturally I want her to end up in a relationship where she feels loved, protected and safe. Currently the seen / known / existing options for “ men who aren’t trash or related to her ” to marry her is like..... 3 guys and only 1 has she’s actually met which is Sandor. Assuming she’s an adult and in a good place to make these kinda choices and she picks him Great, have at it, if she meets Trystane or some other good boi™ who’s more her age and they hit it off even better. Mainly I just want her to be happy and for Sandor I just want him to be at peace, whatever form that takes, even if does mean he dies. 

My issue is really just that there are people who are so intent on ignoring the romantic elements of the ship that they blatantly rewrite the canon and misconstrue shit. I’ve seen people argue that the Unkiss ( a memory Sansa fabricated of Sandor kissing her during the BotBW scene, he didn’t he mostly menaced and cried tbh ) and her quasi-sex dream about him ( She dreams about her wedding night with Tyrion ( it’s own Yikes tbh ) but the Hound replaces Tyrion, she shows no indication of being upset about it compared to other nightmares she’s had canonically )  are coping mechanisms to deal with Sandor related / caused trauma which is just fucking BONKERS. They are, if anything, Sansa using Sandor as a vehicle for coping with other traumas. 

I think sometimes these people forget that for a WHILE there Sandor was the only person who was consistently on her side without ulterior motive and at times to his own potential determent. He’s not a good or nice man by any stretch but he genuinely cares about her and tries to look out for her. Sansa says it herself “ he was no true knight but he saved me all the same ” , he admits to her his grimdark origin story and she comforts him, then roots for him in the tourney. She understands why he’s so shitty but also calls him out on it when he’s being needlessly cruel to her. He protects her from beatings, rape and who knows what else as best he can, I mean shit if he was not her self-appointed bodyguard the mob attack scene would’ve been very different as he’s literally the only one who noticed she was gone before it was too late because he you know, gave a fucking shit about her safety and was actively looking out for her  in a dangerous setting.

I understand disliking it as a romantic ship and I don’t have beef with that, like I’m not always super hot on it as a romantic ship myself ? But I think it’s just willfully bad reading comprehension and douchery to try and make it like they’re not important to each other or that there’s not a romantic / sexual undertone. Before I get fucking shot for the last bit, the thing I think people miss on that part is that it doesn’t mean it MUST be acted upon or that it’s like a very serious thing ? Sandor does make crude comments about her and have some level of attraction to her, he’s also a crude dude in general and trying to shock her a lot of the time and purposely doesn’t act on his attraction when given the chance, even when out of his fucking gourd drunk and triggered to hell and back. He very clearly cares about her and while sure she’s pretty and he has eyes it’s much more emotional for him, she’s Kind and Good and Understanding towards him and he desperately craves that.

And with her side of it you can easily pin her fabricating the Unkiss, comparing the kisses of other men to that fake one with him, comparing men to him, her sexual/romantic fantasies now starring him instead of Loras as just part of both protecting herself from things that hurt ( her kiss w/ Tyrion at her forced wedding isn’t really her first that was Sandor! etc etc ) and her using him to explore her own sexuality safely. Loras is very boy band-y and Safe because there’s so clearly never gonna be anything there which makes him great crush material but given everything in her life so far, boy band isn’t really what it’s cracked up to be anymore. Whereas Sandor has proven in her actual life her safety is paramount to him, he’s been her faithful friend and protector as much as he could be. Sansa is a big fan of songs and a lot of his actions fit nicely into that narrative / aesthetic, saving her from the crowd, giving her his cloak to protect her modesty, offering to whisk her away from KL and he won’t hurt her. At that point in her life a man who’s built like a brick house, could snap a dude over his knee but is intensely protective and gentle towards her is honestly more appealing than being just a hottie. The concept of Sandor makes her feel Safe, she uses him, his attitude and his advice as a guide for how to navigate situations later on. Big shock that when she turns to explore her own sexuality and all that she uses Sandor as the tool to do it. Because he’s Safe. He’s not there, he can’t physically interact with her or act on anything related to these fantasies, he’s given her plenty of fodder and she can put anything “ mature “ or “ experienced “ on him to fulfill and enjoy exploring without feeling anxious about not knowing what she’s doing, she can just be like “ well Sandor would know how “ . It’s very much like if she was having the same thoughts about Theon, she knows him, he’s safe, and he’s not around to make this incredibly embarrassing. And you can literally leave that undertone at that and proceed forward figuring that, like with Loras, she’ll grow out of it with Sandor and move on to someone else, maybe whoever she’s in a healthy romantic relationship with. And that’s fine. Frankly I’m very good with her using Sandor for this considering she’s going to be engaged to a douche and Baelish is getting all Uncle Bad Touch, let her have her Sandor flavored escapist fantasies. And if you genuinely think he would for real touch her while she’s underage then I just need yall to get out Forever thanks.

If Sansa was really so traumatized by him from the BotBW or didn’t like him at all bc he’s a shitty and menacing professional killer who harassed her she wouldn’t have fabricated the unkiss, wouldn’t have kept his cloak, would not have compared other men to him with him being the positive example or compared sweet robin’s kiss to the unkiss again with Sandor in the positive. I don’t think these things inherently mean ~Romance~ I think they mean Sansa using Sandor to fill in a LOT of spaces in her life where she needs someone like a protector, a confident, a lover etc etc because he’s one of the few people who can fit them who she likes / trusts and isn’t fuckin’ dead. We don’t see much from his end since she’s a POV and he’s not hence why I’m speaking mainly about Sansa but it’s important to remember with him that she’s the best person in his life. She’s Special, he offers to save her from KL for a reason, because she’s good and kind and he wants tot help her. Sansa is the catalyst for his own self improvement just because she’s Nice, she quite literally pet this fucking dog and now he’d fucking die for her. That doesn’t have to be romantic so don’t fucking delete it just because you don’t like the romantic shippers. Don’t turn basic human compassion in to a sexual act.
